This blog has been created to engage readers in a dialogue about the novels on the annual Booker prize lists. In addition to recording one reader’s response to each novel, it will examine background information on the novels, the authors, the prize, and the Booker chatter in the news leading up to the final choice.

My reading of the novels will be informed by my study of literature and religion at the graduate level. I am interested in the ways that the novels of any age reflect the faith questions of that age. In a sense, the novels nominated for the Booker prizes represent a spiritual diary of the English-speaking world.
