Interviews capture the voices of authors in a slightly differ way than reviews, biographies, or the actual work. I like to think that the interview, depending on the quality of the interviewer, may catch the personality in a pure, unadulterated form. This allows me to study the composition process from a different angle. I may begin to see the novel through the eyes of the writer rather than the reader.
